World most expensive, I8-carat solid gold toilet named 'America' opens for use (pics)

An Italian artist, Maurizio Cattelan has created a fully functional 18-carat solid gold toilet for the Guggenheim Museum in New York and it is open for public use.

The gold toilet is a symbolic work of art aptly named 'America', and it is meant to remind us our excessive love for material wealth.

The unique thing about the toilet is it is not exclusive for the wealthy. Rather it is the opposite.

Members of the public are invited to use the toilet for a price of the standard fee for admission into the museum. You pay the Museum fee, sit on 'America' and do your business.

So far so good the work of art has been 'flushed' with success as visitors line up to sit down on the bling bowl.

Lol. Provocative but definitely symbolic
